P22 Analog is an offshoot of P22 Type Foundry, a digital type house founded in 1994. Over the previous 20+ years, P22 type foundry occasionally dipped into the physical properties of letterpress printing, printed books rather than just PDF files, and far more than just digital type. Now P22 Analog will be an entity dedicated specifically to hand-printing and hand-craft along with research related to printing and typographic history.
The current components of P22 analog are:
1. P22 Blox Project - Currently in Kickstarter phase - A modular type made from injection-molded plastic.
2. P22 Analog Press - Limited edition letterpress prints by P22 founder, Richard Kegler.
3. P22 Design Research Laboratory - A collection of mid-20th century letterpress printing blocks used for advertising. Available for researchers to visit upon application and rigorous psychological evaluation.
