A collection of thousands of mid-20th century wooden letterpress printing blocks used for advertising has been acquired by P22 Analog. The bulk of the collection originated at Pollack Printing in Buffalo NY, and features vernacular design specific to mid-20th century department stores and supermarkets. What Hatch Show Print in Nashville is to the country music industry, Pollack was to the less glamorous department store industry. Pollack boasted that they were the "Largest printer east of the Missisippi" and "The Nation's Printer." Printed ephemera and blocks from Pollack will be organized and cataloged with eventual placement in permanent collections of printing history archives.
Plans are being developed to allow researchers to view and utilize pieces in the collection. Currently in cataloging phase.
